A roadside bomb detonated at a police commando recruitment center in western Baghdad on Sunday, killing four recruits and wounding 23 others, an Interior Ministry source said.

The bomb detonated as dozens of police commando recruits were gathering at the entrance of a police commando base near the Nusour Square at about 10:30 a.m. (0730 GMT), the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Earlier in the day, two roadside bomb explosions struck police patrols in Baghdad, wounding five policemen and four civilians, the police said.

Insurgents frequently attack Iraqi security forces, accusing them of collaborating with U.S. troops.
