Arab information ministers on Thursday hold talks at the headquarters of the Cairo-based Arab League (AL) to discuss the role of the Arab media in backing Arab causes and joint efforts to promote development in the region.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Egyptian Minister of Information Anas Ahmad Nabih el-Fekki, head of the Arab Information Ministers Council session, stressed the importance of reaching an Arab mechanism regulating satellite TV and radio transmission in the Arab world.

He proposed establishing an Arab satellite channel to air the Arab viewpoint toward Arab and international developments and confront anti-Arab campaigns.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and other prominent media figures of the 22-member pan-Arab body, as wells head of State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China Wang Chen, who came on the AL invitation, were also present at the council session.
