The African Union (AU) Permanent Representatives Committee on Wednesday tackled its report to the upcoming AU summit in the Egyptian Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh.
During the second-day of its ordinary session, the AU Permanent Representatives or ambassadors discussed the administrative and financial issues and are expected to adopt the Committee report on regional political, economic, social and cultural issues to the 11th AU summit, according to the session schedule.
Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, is scheduled to brief reporters on Summit agenda and organization of the Summit later Wednesday.
For her part, Rhoda Peace, Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission, would like to talk about the theme of the AU Summit, i.e. "Meeting the Millennium Development Goals on Water and Sanitation".
The two-day session will be followed by a foreign ministerial meeting of the AU Executive Council on June 27-28 and the AU summit scheduled on June 30 to July 1.
The summit comes as the crucial issue of food crisis resulted in Africa confronted to many difficulties including riots.
The upcoming AU summit is the first to be held in Egypt since the AU replaced the Organization of the African Unity (OAU) in 2002.
