Four foreign fishing boats with 17 crew aboard were seized in Gulf waters over border violation and illegal fishing, Iran's satellite Press TV said on Thursday.

"Bushehr sea-guard patrols stopped four foreign fishing boats on the strength of border violation and illegal fishing in Iranian waters," police commander of Iran's Bushehr province, Reza Mohmmadi-Yeganeh, was quoted as saying.

The boats were from Saudi Arabia and had 17 Indian nationals aboard, he said, adding that the documents of the boats which were confiscated are being held in Bushehr's naval police headquarters in southern Iran.
