Turkish security forces seized 125 kg of hashish on a passenger bus in the eastern province of Elazig, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, the security forces stopped a passenger bus suspected of carrying narcotics from the eastern province of Van to Istanbul, said the report.

It added that the security forces discovered two hidden sections concealing a total of 125 kg of hashish during their search.

Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in western Europe.
