Israeli marine vessels on Saturday opened fire at Palestinian fishermen in the sea, violating a ceasefire with Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas, Palestinian security sources said Saturday.

The shooting, which occurred in the Mediterranean along northwest Gaza city at dawn, caused no casualties, the sources added.

On Friday, Israeli gunboats fired two shells at Palestinian fishing boats in southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah when they were fishing offshore, causing damage to two boats.

On June 19, the Egyptian-brokered truce between Hamas and Israel took effect in the Gaza Strip. The two sides have exchanged several accusations over violations.

Meanwhile, an aide to deposed Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haneya accused Israel of playing with the provisions of the six-month ceasefire, especially with the article "related to the lifting of the siege."

"Israel follows up a policy enabling it from taking advantage of the lull without presenting any benefits for the Palestinian side," said Ahmed Yousef, Haneya's political advisor.

"Israel looks for different agenda out of this deal mainly creating a state of confusion and troubles between the Palestinian resistance groups," Yousef added.

During the ceasefire, some Palestinian armed groups fired rockets into Israel to express their opposition to keeping the West Bank out of the ceasefire deal. Israel, in return, closed commercial crossings into Gaza.

Hamas has stated that it is committed to the ceasefire. Some Palestinian factions accused Hamas of policing the Israeli border to prevent rocket attacks.
