Islamic Hamas movement on Sunday accused Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of having no sincerity in making an inter-Palestinian dialogue to end the current status of internal rip.
Earlier reports said Abbas, who is visiting Syria on Sunday for talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, has no plans to meet any of the Palestinian opposition groups in Damascus including Hamas leaders.
Hamas spokesman in Gaza Sami Abu Zuhri said "this shows no seriousness of President Abbas to launch a real and serious comprehensive dialogue that leads to end of the current crisis."
Hamas movement took control of the Gaza Strip in mid-June last year following weeks of blooding infighting with rival Fatah movement.
In response, Abbas sacked the Hamas-led unity government and formed a cabinet ruling from the West Bank, while refusing to have any contact with Hamas.
However, a year after Hamas took control of Gaza, Abbas called for resuming a national dialogue not only between Fatah and Hamas, but also among all Palestinian political groups.
Abbas and Fatah leaders accused Hamas that it has not positively dealt with the calls for resuming the dialogue.
"This is nonsense and meaningless. Abbas said he wants to resume the dialogue and we said we are ready for that anywhere and anytime, but so far no one has invited us for the resumption of dialogue," said Abu Zuhri.
