Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora expected a new cabinet to be formed before President Michel Suleiman leaves the country for France on July 12, local Daily Star reported Wednesday.
The Lebanese president will participate in the Mediterranean Union summit in France during the coming weekend.
"I do not want to set a date, but a lot of progress has been made," Seniora was quoted telling reporters after meeting with the president on Monday night.
Seniora denied that there are delaying obstacles within the pro-government parties.
Majority Leader MP Saad Hariri also denied the existence of divisions within the majority parties over shares in the cabinet, saying "there are different parties and views within the March 14 forces, but we have a unified cause which is Lebanon."
Hariri returned to Beirut Tuesday following reports that a new cabinet would not be formed until he returns to resolve inter-pro-government differences regarding the distribution of cabinet seats.
Seniora reached an agreement last Saturday with Christian opposition Leader Michel Aoun on the latter's share in the new cabinet.
Over six weeks have passed since PM designate Fouad Seniora was assigned by the president to form a national unity government, in accordance with the Doha accord inked by Lebanese rival leaders on May 21, but so far no much breakthrough is in sight.
