Turkey's Foreign Minister Ali Babacan said on Wednesday Turkey upholds efforts to solve Iran's controversial nuclear issue through dialogue and that the Iranian foreign minister would pay a visit to Turkey on Friday.
Speaking to Turkish private NTV channel, Babacan said the international community had concerns about Iran's nuclear program, noting that the five-year-old nuclear crisis stemmed from mutual lack of confidence between Iran and several countries.
Babacan said Turkey supports countries which want to develop nuclear technology for peaceful means.
The Turkish foreign minister also said he would meet U.S. National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley in Ankara on Thursday morning on the nuclear issue.
Regarding talks between Syria and Israel, Babacan said efforts to hold indirect talks between the two countries had been underway for nearly one year, adding that when Turkey saw the will for a solution in both countries, it decided to accept the proposal to undertake the mediation role between them.
Both Israel and Syria confirmed in May that they were holding indirect peace talks mediated by Turkish officials over the fate of the Golan Heights, a strategic plateau Israel seized in 1967 and annexed in 1981.
