A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck a town in southern Israel on Monday, causing no damage or injuries, local daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported on its website.
The Qassam rocket was launched from the northern part of the Hamas-ruled coastal strip, landed in an open area in Sderot, a town suffering from frequent rocket attacks before an Egypt-brokered Gaza truce between Israel and Hamas went into effect in June, said the report.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, nor the Israeli side has announced any measure to respond.
Previous such violations of the truce often prompted the Jewish state to temporarily close its border crossing with the strip.
On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that even a large-scale military operation in the Palestinian enclave will not cease the rocket attacks, hoping the truce would last for a year as it is effectively halting the barrages. Source: Xinhua
