Israeli government spokespersons Wednesday declined to comment that the American administration has rejected an Israeli request for military equipment and support to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, local daily Ha'aretz reported.
Lior Avon, spokeswoman for Defense Ministry, told Xinhua on telephone that she never heard about the rejection.
Mark Regev, spokesman from Prime Minister's Office, also told Xinhua that he didn't know it and was reluctant to comment on Ha'aretz report. But he added that all kinds of options including military means are under consideration to solve the Iran issue.
The report said that the Americans viewed the request, which was transmitted (and rejected) at the highest level, as a sign that Israel is in the advanced stages of preparation to attack Iran. They therefore warned Israel against attacking, saying such a strike would undermine American interest.
As compensation for the request it rejected, U.S. offered to improve Israel's defenses against surface-to-surface missiles, according to the report.
The report also said, Israel insists it reserves the right to take whatever action it deems necessary if diplomatic efforts to halt Iran's nuclear activity fail.
On May 23, Israeli media reported that the country has sent an official request to the U.S. government to purchase tens of advanced warplanes F-35 stealth fighters.
