Israeli Immigrant Absorption Minister Eli Aflalo announced Thursday he would be supporting Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni's bid for the ruling Kadima's chairmanship.
"The members of the party have no moral right to go against the position held by the majority of Kadima party voters and supporters in the general public," Aflalo was quoted by local daily Yedioth Ahronoth as saying.
Aflalo, who made his announcement at a meeting with 150 of his closest supporters in Tel Aviv, is the 10th member of Knesset (parliament) to endorse Livni out of Kadima's 29 Knesset members.
On Wednesday, Tzachi Hanegbi, a senior member of Kadima, also chairman of Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, endorsed Livni to replace Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as Kadima chairperson.
Olmert, embroiled in a legal battle over corruption and graft suspicions, has decided not to run in the primary scheduled for Sept. 17. Source: Xinhua
