A U.S. helicopter apparently crashed in Salahudin province in north of Baghdad on Monday morning, a source from U.S. and Iraqi liaison office said.
"We have received information that a U.S. helicopter crashed in the Shwikhat area near the town of Dawr, 150 km north of Baghdad, "the source from the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) in the province told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
"The helicopter crashed maybe due to technical failure because we did not see or heard any anti-aircraft fire before the incident," the JCC source quoted witnesses in the rural as saying.
The U.S. troops immediately cordoned off the area, he said.
The U.S. military told Xinhua that they could not immediately confirm the incident because they are still checking reports about it.
