Militants of the outlawed Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) kidnapped two people in eastern Turkey, Turkish General Staff said in a written statement on Sunday.
Two people were kidnapped in Genc town of Bingol province around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the statement said without elaborating.
PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took up arms in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in southeast Turkey. About 40,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
Turkey has conducted frequent air raids on suspected PKK positions in northern Iraq, which serve as a launch pad for cross-border attacks on Turkey. In February, it launched an eight-day ground incursion into Iraq to fight the PKK rebels.
