Israeli army has arrested 17 Palestinians in the West Bank for the last two days, including a Fatah activist who was granted an amnesty, Palestinian sources said.

The arrest of Adham Labada, a fighter filleted with the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, took place on Wednesday's noon when undercover forces infiltrated Nablus city, according to the sources.

Labada was one of dozens of activists, who belong to al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, that were granted amnesty by Israel following several deals with the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

Meanwhile, 16 other Palestinians were arrested last night, the sources said.

Seven of the people were detained in Nablus and the others were taken from their houses in the cities of Hebron, Bethlehem, Qalqilya and Tulkarem.

On Wednesday, Israel granted amnesty for some 60 activists and on Monday freed 198 prisoners to bolster Abbas and give a thrust to the peace talks between the two sides.

But the continuation of raids in the West Bank and the expansion of settlements prevent any breakthrough in the 10-month-old negotiations.
