Egypt will invite Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah for talks in Cairo next month in a bid to solve their inter-fighting, the Palestinian news agency of Ramattan reported Sunday.
The report said that Egyptian officials will meet Hamas and Fatah leaders separately in preparation for a three-way meeting, which will start in the last ten days of September.
Egypt tries to broker a Palestinian reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah in order to resume the national Palestinian dialogue which stopped last year when Hamas forces took over control of the Gaza Strip and routed the long-dominant Fatah movement led by President Mahmoud Abbas.
The Hamas-Fatah rivalry has led to a political split between the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and the West Bank where the Fatah-dominated Palestinian National Authority (PNA) rules.
The report, meanwhile, noted that representatives of other Palestinian factions are also going to Cairo to present their views for the Egyptian mediators who try to bring Hamas and Fatah to set on the table of talks.
The leftist factions sent their deputies on Sunday and the Islamic Jihad movement has already finished its talks with the Egyptians.
