A delegation of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) presented its plan here on Tuesday to settle the current inter-Palestinian crisis, the Egyptian MENA news agency reported.
The DFLP delegation, led by its Secretary General Nayif Hawatmah, offered the proposal during talks with Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman, who is in charge of the talks with the Palestinians in a bid to help end the inter-Palestinian rift.
The proposal called on the rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas to end campaigns of incitement and release all political prisoners from both sides, Hawatmah was quoted as saying.
A national committee grouping representatives from the Palestinian factions should be set up to supervise the process, said Hawatmah.
In addition, the DFLP plan also called for the formation of an interim Palestinian government consisting of independent figures to be responsible for unifying the Palestinian National Authority institution and preparing for parliamentary and presidential elections, he added.
Earlier in the day, Suleiman also held talks with a delegation of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front led by its Secretary General Samir Ghawshah on means of ending the current Palestinian crisis.
In the past week, Egyptian mediators led by Suleiman held bilateral talks with delegations of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Following the bilateral meetings, Egypt will then oversee a comprehensive Palestinian dialogue to help the Palestinians get out of the current crisis and rifts among rival movements, particularly between Fatah and Hamas.
In the past months, Egypt has been trying to broker a Palestinian reconciliation after it succeeded in brokering a ceasefire in June between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement which rules Gaza.
