King Abdullah II has pledged that Jordan is keen to preserve the security and stability of Sudan, the Jordan Times daily reported on Tuesday.

The King made the remarks at a meeting Monday with visiting Sudanese Minister of Justice Abdel-Basit Sabdrat, who delivered a letter from Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir on the country's position towards International Criminal Court (ICC)'s accusations against Bashir, according to the daily.

Jordan supports Sudan to achieve national reconciliation and maintain peace in all Sudanese provinces, the king was quoted as saying.

The Sudanese minister voiced appreciation for Jordan's continued support for his country and the kingdom's positions in defending Arab and Islamic rights at various levels.

He also stressed the eagerness of the Sudanese leadership in coordinating with Jordan to find a solution to Khartoum's current crisis with the ICC.

On July 14, the ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo formally requested an arrest warrant against President al-Bashir for alleged war crimes in the western Sudanese region of Darfur, which was strongly refuted by the Sudanese government.

Jordan supported the resolution issued by the Arab League foreign ministers criticizing the move by the ICC prosecutor.
