The Arab Foreign Ministers' Council welcomed Jordanian king Abdullah II's visit to Iraq and efforts to preserve the holy sites in Jerusalem, local daily The Jordan Times reported on Wednesday.
Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Salah Bashir said Tuesday in a statement that the council praised the king's visit to Iraq for its positive impact on progress in the country, and the move represents genuine support for the Iraqi government and boosts efforts to bring about security, stability and closer ties between Iraq and Arab countries.
Bashir said the council also voiced its support for Jordan's efforts with regard to Israeli measures in Jerusalem, particularly Bab Al Magharbeh, where it plans to build a steel bridge.
The 130th ordinary session of the Arab League (AL) Council at the level of foreign ministers kicked off in Cairo, Egypt, on Monday afternoon on regional issues related to the Arab world.
