A ranking official of the Druze Lebanese Democratic Party was killed in a car explosion in Baisour town, east of Beirut, local NBN TV reported Wednesday.
The press officer of the party Akram Msharafief told Elnashra website that the official, Saleh Aridi, died in the explosion in Mont Lebanon district of Aley, and four others were injured.
He refused to accuse any party.
Aridi is a ranking official of the party's political bureau and known to be an active member.
The Lebanese Democratic Party is a Druze opposition party headed by Minister of Youth and Sports Talal Arsalan, who is known to be a pro-Syrian Druze leader.
The incident comes only two days after a reconciliation agreement was reached between pro-government Sunni and opposition Alawit supporters in the northern city of Tripoli.
