Jordan and Russia urged Israel to stop actions that might derail the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis, local daily The Jordan Times reported on Tuesday.
This remarks was made Monday by Jordanian Foreign Minister Salah Bashir and visiting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Middle East Envoy Alexander Sultanov in a meeting which focused on the latest developments in the region and international efforts to advance the peace process.

Bashir and Sultanov stressed that Israel needs to halt its settlement activity and take tangible steps to reduce the suffering of the Palestinians, particularly in the economic aspect.
Bashir also warned against the latest Israeli procedures in Jerusalem and construction work at Bab Al Magharbeh, stressing that Jordan is the party entitled to look after the holy sites in Jerusalem.
Bashir commended Russia's role in the Mideast peace process through its membership in the international Quartet, stressing the need to intensify international efforts to achieve a genuine and tangible progress in the Mideast peace process.
The Russian official also held talks Monday with Jordan's King Abdullah II, who emphasized the importance of an effective Russianrole in peace efforts between the Palestinians and Israelis.
