An Iraqi policeman was killed and14 people were wounded in three bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital on Wednesday, an Interior Ministry source said.

The policeman was killed when a roadside bomb struck his patrol in Baghdad eastern neighborhood of Zayouna, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast also left three policemen and two civilians injured, the source said.

Another roadside bomb hit an Iraqi army patrol near Maysaloon Square in the Baghdad al-Jadida or new Baghdad district in the southeast of the capital, leaving three soldiers and three civilians wounded, he said.

Meanwhile, a third roadside bomb went off near a traffic police patrol while passing near the al-Masbah intersection in Baghdad central district of Karrada, wounding a traffic policeman and two civilians, he added.

The attacks which came a day after General Ray Odierno took command of the U.S.-led coalition troops in Iraq from David Petraeus, giving the new leader a reminder of hard task ahead.

Sporadic attacks continue in Baghdad despite the U.S. and Iraqi officials' announcement of a relative lull in violence during the past months.
