Chief Palestinian negotiator Ahmed Qurei on Wednesday said that peace talks with Israel were difficult but it did not reach the phase of bargaining.
Qurei made the remarks while speaking at a seminar to respond to Palestinian fears that Israel bargains the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) for the national principles.
"The talks are difficult but there is no bargaining," Qurei said, adding that "the negotiations did not reach anything yet and they can't begin with bargaining if they were aimed at success."
The goals of our people and leadership can not be subject for bargain in the negotiations and "we seek to reinforce our people's rights through the negotiations," Qurei went on.
The U.S. mediated the resumption of the peace talks between Israel and the PNA last November. Qurei admitted that the negotiation could not make any deal on the outstanding issues between the two sides.
The negotiations were intended to reach a deal on creating a Palestinian statehood alongside Israel before the end of this year. The pessimistic Qurei said there was no deal on the issues of Jerusalem, land, border, water, refugees and prisoners. Source: Xinhua
