Israeli soldiers wounded three Palestinians at a checkpoint near West Bank city of Nablus on Monday after a Palestinian woman attacked an Israeli soldier with acid, witnesses and medical sources said.
Israeli sources also said that the soldier was moderately wounded when the woman threw acid in his face, which is the second such incident in two weeks at Hawara checkpoint just outside Nablus.
After the incident, the Israeli forces arrested the woman and opened fire at Palestinians who were waiting to cross the checkpoint, wounding three of them, including a woman and two youths, the witnesses said.
According to the medical sources, the woman was injured in her right leg, one of the youths was hit by a gunshot in his waist and another was injured in his left leg.
The woman who attacked the soldiers was wearing a black garment and white headscarf, the witnesses said, adding that the attacker was about 25 years old.
The witnesses said that the Israeli soldiers closed the checkpoint and prevented the people from crossing in and out of Nablus.
Two weeks ago, a woman carried out a similar attack at the same checkpoint and escaped successfully, leaving two Israeli soldiers slightly wounded.
