Israel has reduced fuel shipments to the Gaza Strip for more than one and half year and will continue the reduction, a Palestinian official said on Sunday.

So far, the Palestinian Petroleum Agency (PPA) did not get any promises that Israel is going to increase the fuel shipments to Gaza, PPA deputy director Ahmed Ali told the press.

The solution should be by opening the crossing points and allowing free flow of the petrol into Gaza, he urged.

Ali noted that "the occupation only allows 1.2 million liters of diesel into Gaza every week while the Strip needs 750,000 liters of the diesel everyday."

"As for the gasoline, 120,000 liters are allowed into Gaza every week while the need is for 150,000 liters everyday," he added.

Israel also reduced the deliveries of cooking gas, Ali said, explaining that the Gaza Strip needs 450 tons of gas everyday but Israel only allowed the delivery of 200 tons everyday.

Israel reduced the fuel deliveries to Gaza last year after Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip by force. Since then, Hamas authorities control the distribution of the fuel in the territory.
