Chief Palestinian negotiator Ahmed Qurei, better known as Abu Alla, said on Monday that Egypt is working on a final draft of an agreement designed to end the current Palestinian political split between the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
"Egypt is right now working on crystallizing a final draft of an agreement that will be presented to the Arab League (AL) afterwards in order to be approved as a solution for the current split," Qurei told reporters.
Since mid June last year, Hamas has been ruling the Gaza Strip after it violently seized the coastal strip by force and routed security forces loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas, while the West Bank remains under the rein of Abbas.
In September, Egyptian security officials have been holding in Cairo separate bilateral talks with leaders of 13 Palestinian factions, including rival Fatah and Hamas, to come up with a unified position to end the internal Palestinian crisis.
Senior Fatah leaders held talks with Egyptian security officials last week and an Islamic Hamas movement delegation is due to arrive in Cairo on Oct. 8 for reconciliation talks.
Chief of the Fatah delegation Nablil Shaath has earlier announced that a comprehensive dialogue that would include leaders of all factions would convene in Cairo on Nov. 4.
Shaath said the comprehensive dialogue will be only for one day to agree on a joint paper which would be then sent to an AL Foreign Ministers meeting for approval.
