United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has informed Lebanese authorities that Israel is likely to withdraw from the Lebanese side of Ghajar village at the Lebanese southern borders by Nov. 21, local An-Nahar daily reported Monday.
UNIFIL command sent a letter to the Lebanese official sides few days ago informing them that the command was informed about the possible pull out, the daily said.
"UNIFIL hoped in the letter that the Lebanese authorities would keep the situation calm in the border region" to assure that Israel would not change its mind, the daily added.
Press reports said last month that Israel informed the U.S. that it was ready to pullout of the Ghajar area if there was a Lebanese written guarantee that UNIFIL would be in control of the security in the village.
There has been much calls by Lebanese pro-government leaders to insure an Israeli withdrawal from the area, in order to dismantle Hezbollah pretext of keeping its weapons until occupied area are liberated.
However, Hezbollah made it clear that it will not give up its arms as long as Israel is posing a threat to Lebanon.
