A Hamas advisor on Monday called for studying the dissolving of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA)if Palestinian factions failed to reach a national agreement in upcoming Egyptian-sponsored dialogue.

"Every party has to settle everything in Cairo," said Ahmed Yousef, political advisor of ousted Hamas premier Ismail Haneya. "They should come back with good news that they reached understandings achieving the national reconciliation or think deeply in breaking up the PNA."

The national Palestinian dialogue is expected to start next month as Egypt is about to finish its meetings with the Palestinian factions to draw up a plan to settle the Palestinian political crisis.

The crisis widened last year after Islamic Hamas movement routed security forces of Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, ousted his Fatah movement and took over Gaza Strip.

Abbas consolidated his power in the West Bank while Hamas tightened its grip on the Gaza Strip, turning the two territories into politically-separated entities.

Yousef says the situation "became catastrophic on all levels," accusing the PNA of hesitating in "announcing its failure in managing the national project," referring to peace talks between PNA and Israel.
