A tripartite meeting, including army officials from Lebanon, Israel and the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), discussed the implementation of UN resolution 1701 and the demarcation of the blue line, local Daily Star reported Tuesday.
The meeting was held at the Lebanese-Israeli border crossing ofRas al-Naqoura.
UNIFIL spokeswoman Yasmina Bouziane said that the discussions focused on "the implementation of resolution 1701 and violations of the blue line," which was drawn by UN after Israel ended its occupation of south Lebanon in 2000, and the issue of Ghajar village.
Israel still has troops stationed in a part of Ghajar village. Under UN resolution 1701, Israel should have withdrawn from the village at the end of the war with Hezbollah in 2006.
However, An-Nahar daily reported Monday that UNIFIL command informed the Lebanese authorities that Israel is likely going to pull out of the village by Nov. 21.
Earlier in September, press reports said that Israel has informed the United States about its intention to pull out, but asked for written guarantees from the Lebanese authorities to assure UNIFIL control over security in the area.
