Syrian security forces clashed with suspected terrorists in a Palestinian refugee camp, south of Damascus, killing at least one of them, the independent Damaspost website reported Thursday.

According to the report, Syrian security forces exchanged fire with the suspected terrorists in Yarmouk refugee camp, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Syria, about 15 km south of the capital, killing at least one and wounding and then arresting another.

The report quoted witnesses as saying that one of the suspects was carrying an explosive belt, but security forces managed to control the situation.

Other Arab media reported more casualties, saying four suspects were killed and a Syrian security guard injured in the clashes.

Calm has returned to the street of the refugee camp, said the reports.

No official statement has been issued to confirm the clashes.
