Unknown gunmen shot dead two international staff and one local security guard with DHL company Saturday morning in Afghan capital Kabul, said officials.
The incident occurred in a fortified area close to UN office, Iran and Turkish embassies where dozens of Afghan police and personnel of the law enforcing agencies were patrolling.
A UN official, who declined to be named, told Xinhua that the incident occurred at around 10 a.m. (0530 GMT) when unknown gunmen shot at the employees with DHL company in front of their office near Sheer Pur SQ in Kabul city.
"Two others were also wounded in the incident," he added. "The area is blocked by Afghan security forces."
Meanwhile, Afghanistan Interior Ministry said that "two foreigners and one Afghan were killed as guards of two companies fired on each other."
"The clash occurred between the guards of a shipping firm DHL and the private security company SALADIN during which two international staff of DHL and one guard were killed on the spot,"an official of the Interior Ministry told Xinhua. The official refused to be identified, saying he has not been authorized to talk with media.
He added that one of the victims is a Canadian national.
No groups or individuals have yet to claim responsibility for the incidents.
Security incidents are on rise in the Afghan capital Kabul as a Canadian journalist and a British aid worker have been respectively kidnapped and killed over the past two weeks but police forces have failed to arrest anyone so far. Source:Xinhua
