A roadside bomb exploded in southeastern Baghdad on Monday near two minibuses carrying passengers, killing three civilians and wounding five others, an Interior Ministry source said.
"A roadside bomb explosion occurred in the morning near two minibuses carrying passengers while traveling in the al-Ameen neighborhood, killing three civilians and injuring five others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The powerful blast caused damages to the minibuses and several nearby shops and civilian cars, the source said.
Iraqi security forces sealed off the area while ambulances transported the casualties to nearby hospitals, he added.
Sporadic attacks continue in Baghdad despite the earlier U.S. and Iraqi officials' announcement of a relative lull during the past few months.
