Two Iraqi civilians were killed and seven others wounded by a bomb explosion in central Baghdad on Monday afternoon, an Interior Ministry source said.
The incident occurred at about 03:35 p.m. (1235 GMT) when a bomb planted in a civilian car detonated while it was passing near the al-Khallani Square, killing two civilians and injuring seven others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The explosive charge was of a magnetic kind, which had been stuck in the victims' car and totally damaged it, the source said.
The powerful blast also caused damages to several nearby civilian cars, he said, adding that Iraqi security forces immediately sealed off the area and began evacuating the victims.
Earlier, the source told Xinhua that three civilians were killed and five others injured when a roadside bomb detonated near two minibuses carrying passengers while traveling in the al-Ameen neighborhood in southeastern Baghdad.
Violence has dropped to a four-year low in Iraq, while sporadic bomb attacks, car bombings and suicide attacks are still haunting the Iraqis. Source:Xinhua
