Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday condemned the recent U.S. attack inside Syria that killed eight civilians, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"Such blind and aimless acts once again showed that the U.S. has no base in the region and it is failed," Ahmadinejad said in a phone call with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad.

Regarding Washington's policies and actions, he said "regional and world nations and governments want the U.S. pullout from Middle East."

"Syrian nation and government defended their country, thus more strongly proving their strength to the ill-wishers," Ahmadinejad said, adding that "the Iranian government and nation will stand beside their brothers in Syria up to the end."

Al-Assad, for his part, thanked the Iranian government and nation for their pro-Syria stances, saying that "of course regional and global conditions show that Iranian and Syrian nations and governments have been right."

"The Americans tried to deal a blow on Syrian nation but to no avail," Al-Assad said. "The U.S. move further united more than 20 million Syrians and had a backlash for (Americans) themselves."

The official Syrian media reported that American helicopter-borne troops on Sunday launched an assault on a building in a Syrian village along the border with Iraq, killing eight civilians.
