Well-informed Palestinian sources revealed on Monday that Egypt decided to postpone launching the comprehensive inter-Palestinian dialogue until Nov. 11, instead of launching it on Nov. 9.
The sources, which spoke in condition of anonymity, told a pro-Hamas movement's website on the internet that postponement is only for two days, adding "the reasons for postponing launching the dialogue on Nov.9 is technical."
An official Hamas movement delegation left Gaza on Monday afternoon, heading to Cairo to prepare for the general dialogue and to discuss the movement's reservations on the Egyptian draft paper presented to the Palestinian factions.
On Sunday, an Islamic Jihad (Holy War) movement delegation had left Gaza and headed to Syria to discuss the dialogue with the movement's leaders in Damascus. The delegation will get back to Cairo within the coming few days.
The sources said that Egypt, which presented a draft plan for inter-Palestinian reconciliation "would reject any reservations that would block reaching an agreement on the general outlines of the plan."
The plan calls for forming a new national unity government, rehabilitating the security forces of the Palestinian Authority, reforming the PLO, and preparing for presidential and legislative elections in the Palestinian territories.
Hamas criticized Egypt for rejecting its reservations on some of the clauses in the paper. The movement's leaders urged Egypt to consider the movement's reservations "in order to give a push for the dialogue to succeed."
Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, said the reservations are related to reforming Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the term violence instead of "resistance."
