Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operated in southern Gaza early Saturday, detonating two explosive devices on the Palestinian side of the border fence between Israel and the coastal enclave, an IDF spokeswoman said.
Earlier Saturday, Palestinians said that the IDF, operating in the southern part of the Gaza Strip near Khan Younis, infiltrated far beyond the border fence and injured four Palestinians, apparently by shooting, said local daily Yedioth Ahronoth.
The IDF spokeswoman told Xinhua by phone that there was no shooting, Israeli troops detonated the devices in a controlled manner with no reported casualties.
During the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, 20 explosive devices were uncovered along the border fence, said Yedioth Ahronoth, adding that nine rockets were fired at Israeli towns on Friday following an IDF operation to detonate a tunnel.
On Tuesday, three IDF soldiers were injured in the first operation in Gaza since the Egypt-brokered ceasefire took effect on June 19 and six Palestinian gunmen were killed.
The military action was aiming at destroying the tunnel which Gaza militants had dug under the border to try to abduct soldiers, according to IDF.
Israeli officials said they remained committed to the ceasefire with Hamas, stressing that the operation was an isolated one.
In response, Palestinian militants in Gaza fired more than 35 Qassam rockets and mortar shells early Wednesday at the western city of Negev, which caused no injuries or damages. Afterwards, Israeli security establishment ordered the full closure of all goods crossings between Israel and Gaza.
