Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora joined majority leaders criticized Syria for broadcasting testimonies of terrorist members on its official television, instead of tackling it through proper channels with Lebanon, local As-Safier reported Sunday.
During the cabinet meeting Saturday afternoon, Seniora said he would discuss the issues with President Michel Suleiman and interior minister Ziad Baroud.
"Lebanon denounces all acts of terrorism, mainly the activities of Fattah al-Islam," Seniora was quoted as saying at the cabinet session.
He was referring to alleged charges by Fattah al-Islam arrested members on the Syrian official TV last Wednesday.
The Syrian TV aired confessions of several Fattah al-Islam members who allegedly carried out the car bomb attack last September in Damascus.
Moreover, Baroud is expected to be in Damascus next week on an official security visit assigned by the cabinet last week to discuss coordinating security arrangements between the two countries prior to the establishment of embassies in both countries, and following reports of security violations on the Lebanese Syrian borders.
Fattah al-Islam was engaged in 15-week fierce clashes with the Lebanese army in 2007, at the Palestinian refugee camp of Naher al-Barid. So far, 400 people have been killed including 168 soldiers.
The group also carried out car bomb attacks against the Lebanese army in north Lebanon. Source:Xinhua
