Gaza power plant will stop working later on Monday due to fuel shortage, Palestinian official warned.
Israel has been closing Gaza commercial crossings since last Wednesday, withholding fuel shipments and cargo flow to the Hamas-controlled territory.
Jamal al-Khodary, an anti-siege activist, said "The station will stop at 18:30 (16:30 GMT) if the Israeli occupation did not provide it with fuel."
Parts of Gaza city plunged into darkness Sunday after the electricity station turned off one turbine. If the second turbine stops this evening, blackouts will hit all Gaza city which mostly depends on the station to get the power.
The power station produces nearly quarter of Gaza Strip electricity with Israel providing northern and eastern Gaza Strip with electricity while the southern town of Rafah is fed by electricity lines from Egypt.
Israel sealed off the crossing points after violence flared up last week when Hamas and other Palestinians factions fired tens of rockets into southern Israel territories. The rocket attacks followed the killing of six Hamas fighters in a successive Israeli operations in central and southern Gaza Strip.
The closure of the crossings, the Israeli operations and the ensuing rocket attacks violate an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
