Israel will allow limited deliveries of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip on Thursday, the first easing of the blockade since crossings were completely closed last week due to Palestinian militants' violence with Israel flare-up.
Hatem Owaida, an aide to Hamas minister of economy, said 33 truckloads of food would enter the Gaza Strip on Thursday, 18 of which would go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The rest, loaded only with food stuff and dairy products, would enter Gaza through Kerem Shalom crossing point in the southeast of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, he added.
As for the fuel, only limited amount of industrial diesel would be pumped through Nahal Oz crossing in eastern Gaza City and trucked to the only power station in the strip, Owaida said, adding that the cooking gas and vehicle diesel would remain withhold.
On Nov. 5, Israel closed the crossing points after it sent troops into the Gaza Strip and killed six Hamas militants, while Palestinian armed groups responded by firing rockets into Israel.
The two sides were blamed for violating an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire taking effect in June.
Four Hamas fighters were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli operation in southeastern Gaza Strip, shaking the lull again.
Earlier, the UNRWA warned it will halt aid distributing to 750,000 Palestinian refugees in Gaza due to the lack of food which come through the crossings.
