An explosion in the northern Gaza Strip killed two Palestinian militants before noon on Saturday in an attack which some witnesses blamed on Israel.
The Israeli army, however, denied any involvement in the northern Gaza attack.
Some witnesses said that a reconnaissance drone fired a rocket at a group of fighters who gathered near Beit Hanoun border town in northern Gaza Strip, causing casualties among the five gunmen.
Meanwhile, other witnesses said the a rocket -- the group was about to fire into Israel -- exploded prematurely and caused the fatalities.
Medical sources said a man was brought dead to Kamal Adwan hospital in Jabaliya and that another badly-wounded man died soon after arrival, adding that a third was moderately hurt.
Security sources said the fighters belong to the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), an armed group loyal to Islamic Hamas movement. One of the dead was identified as Abdullah al-Mani'a.
The explosion came as Palestinian factions continue firing rockets into Israeli border communities, saying the attacks were in retaliation of a series of Israeli military operations that killed 10 fighters, most of them members of Hamas, since Nov. 4.
The violence left the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire which was declared effective in the Gaza Strip on June 19 near collapse.
On Friday, Hamas fired Russian-made Grad rockets into Israel, further fueling the deterioration of the lull.
Since the resumption of violence, Israel shut down all crossing points to the Gaza Strip and withheld fuel and aid shipments. Source: Xinhua
