Iran's Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari and Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler met here Saturday on energy cooperation between the two countries, Iran's Energy and Oil Information Network (SHANA) reported.
Guler arrived here earlier in the day after completing his visit in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the two sides will discuss diverse areas of interest, including the increase in the amount of natural gas deal, the development of southern Iranian gas fields by Turkey's firms and the transfer of Iran's natural gas to Europe via Turkey, according to SHANA.
Turkey said earlier in November that the some-billion-dollar energy agreements between Tehran and Ankara are expected to be signed by the end of 2008.
Turkish news website World Bulletin quoted Guler, on the eve of his travel to Tehran, as saying that Turkey wanted to purchase more natural gas from Iran.
"Turkey currently took 27 million cubic meters of natural gas from Iran daily," World Bulletin said, adding that "23 million cubic meters more natural gas would be given to Turkey soon."
Nozari said that "both Turkey and Europe need natural gas. We will discuss this issue," confirming that they would discuss transferring Iran's natural gas to European market via Turkey.
Guler is also scheduled to meet Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki, the World Bulletin said, without referring to the duration of his stay in Tehran.
