The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on Sunday that it will finance a number of infrastructure projects worth 29 million U.S. dollars in Kabul, capital of the war-torn Afghanistan.
The ADFD said that it had signed a deal with a Turkish construction company to carry out the multi-million-dollar projects, according to the official Emirates News Agency.
The projects will include rehabilitation and upgrading of some main roads in Kabul, and construction of a number of bridges, rainwater drainage system and pavement to ensure free flow of traffic, pedestrians and rain water.
The projects are in line with the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan and other senior officials and are aimed at boosting relations of economic cooperation between the UAE and Afghanistan.
The ADFD was established under the instructions of late UAE President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan with an aim to provide assistance for developing countries. Source:Xinhua
