The U.S. military said Wednesday that its troops arrested a senior member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's elite Quds Force (IRGC-QF) at Baghdad International Airport.

A military statement said that the suspect is involved in "facilitating Iranian weapons shipments into Iraq."

It said that the suspect was moving under the cover of working for an organization involved in rebuilding Iraqi Shiite religious sites.

The captured suspect was also carrying an "unspecified amount" of cocaine, according to the statement.

Previously, the U.S. troops frequently arrested Iranian officers from the IRGC-QF in Iraq. While the Iranians repeatedly deny U.S. accusation that they are involved in violence of the war-torn neighboring Iraq.
