Lebanon's Druze Minister of Youth and Sports Talal Arslan on Friday warned against a situation setback in the country because of "the verbal escalations and the shaky security situation," local Al-Manar TV reported.
Arslan, also an opposition leader, made the remarks at a press conference, during which he accused pro-government Druze leader Walid Joumblat of leading the country into the atmosphere of war.
"Joumblat is asked to calm down his verbal attacks," Arslan said.
In the past two weeks, Joumblat has escalated his statements against Syria, accusing the Syrian regime of President Bashar Assad of assassinating Lebanese leaders.
Arslan stressed that he will stay in alliance with Syria and described Christian Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun as a "historic leader."
Earlier this week, Joumblat was also lashed at by another Druze leader Weam Wahab who accused Joumblat of attempting to assassinate him.
The Lebanese situation witnessed a political deadlock, which started with the assassination of Former prime minister Rafic Hariri in 2005, prior to May 7 this year when clashes erupted between Shiite opposition Hezbollah and Sunni pro-government supporters, which ended with a Qatar-sponsored agreement of reconciliation on May 21.
