Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to meet with outgoing U. S. President George W. Bush in the White House on Dec. 19, a Palestinian official confirmed Friday.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, an aide to Abbas told reporters in Ramallah, in the West Bank that Abbas would hold "a last valedictory meeting with President Bush in the White House on Dec. 19."
Presidents Abbas and Bush held several meetings in the United States, Israel, Egypt as well as in the West Bank since Abbas succeeded late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in January 2005.
Bush has also paid a historic visit to Ramallah and held talks with Abbas. The meetings between the two men aimed at pushing forward the peace process in the Middle East and achieve Bush vision of the two-state peaceful solution.
"President Abbas will preview with President Bush the Middle East peace process that was launched after Annapolis peace conference held in November last year," said Abu Rudeineh.
Abu Rudeineh also revealed that President Abbas will visit in Moscow on Dec. 22 to hold talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Abbas had earlier said that the Palestinian National Authority would deal with any new President of the United States, adding that the new President Barack Obama promised that the peace process would be on his agenda.
