The Deputy Commander of Iran's Police Forces, Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Radan said that the Iranian forces had killed the chief agents of an Iranian Sunni rebel group in southeastern Iran, Iran's satellite Press TV reported on Tuesday.
"The chief agents of the terrorist group were killed in three separate raids by the Iranian forces," Radan was quoted as saying.
According to him, Iranian forces have killed Abdolmalek's brother and his deputy as well as 19 others during these operations, which have been launched since three months ago.
The Jundullah (Soldiers of God) group, the target of the operation, headed by Abdolmalek Rigi, killed 16 policemen they kidnapped in southeast Iran in June.
The group captured the 16 policemen at a checkpoint in Saravan, situated in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, and then took them across the border into Pakistan.
The group has constantly been blamed for offense and kidnappings in southeastern Iran at the bordering zone with Pakistan.
Tehran has insistently asked the Pakistani security officials to cooperate with Iran's police to track the hideouts of the Jundallah group.
"Unfortunately," Radan said, "Pakistan's cooperation in catching(members of) the Rigi group is not satisfactory and ideal at all."
