Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has strongly condemned Israel's latest massive raid on Gaza and vowed to support the Palestinian resistance, the official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.
He made the remarks in a Saturday telephone contact with Ramadan Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement of Palestine.
"These crimes would not change the situation in favor of the Zionist regime but would worsen its fate and add to its dark record," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.
The resistance of the Palestinian people was the main cause of Israel's failure and its disappointment, Ahmadinejad said, adding that Iranians would always support the Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation and stand by the Palestinians.
He also expressed the Iranian nation's sympathy with the Palestinian nation on the massive deaths of the youth, women and children in Gaza.
Israel on Saturday morning launched a massive air raid which it said was targeted at Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 270 and wounding over 900 people.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi issued a statement late Saturday strongly condemning Israeli deadly attack on the "residential areas of Gaza Strip."
"Although this savagery has got some propagandistic objectives for the forthcoming elections in Israel, it is a proof for the aggressive attitude of the Zionist regime and the painful silence of the international community concerning the siege of the people of Gaza," he said.
