Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Sunday his country is ready to receive wounded Palestinians for remedy in Iran.
"Due to yesterday's crime of Zionist regime which resulted in hundreds of casualties and the critical situation of the wounded concerning the shortage of medicine and medical facilities, Iran is ready to receive wounded Palestinians for the remedy and treatments in Iran," he said in a statement released on Sunday afternoon.
Qashqavi called for an urgent action from the "responsible international organizations to push the Zionists to stop the crimes in the Gaza Strip and to help the besieged people there by providing medical treatments for the patients."
In a statement issued on Saturday evening, Iran's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Israeli deadly attack on the "residential areas of Gaza Strip.
It also called for "an urgent action from the UN Security Council, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, and other Islamic nations and countries to prevent this regime (of Israel) from continuing its crimes."
"Although this savagery has got some propagandistic objectives for the forthcoming elections in Israel, it is a proof for the aggressive attitude of the Zionist regime and the painful silence of the international community concerning the siege of the people of Gaza," said the statement.
On Saturday morning, Israel launched massive air raids against the Gaza Strip, killing more than 280 and wounding over 900 people so far in the first day of an offensive which it said is aimed to halt almost daily rocket and mortar fire against the Jewish state.
Gaza ruler Hamas which is the target of the Israeli assault is backed by Iran.
