Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki conferred with Secretary Generals of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and of Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa over Gaza situation.

A statement released by Iran's Foreign Ministry on Monday said "Mottaki in his telephone conversation with UN, OIC, and Arab League secretary generals sought utmost efforts from regional and international organizations and institutions to condemn the Zionist regime's raid (on Gaza) and to stop it from further crime."

He also expressed his country's readiness to send humanitarian aid to Gazans and to receive the wounded for remedy in Iran.

"Mr. Ban Ki-moon (the UN chief), on his part, expressed his deep sorrow over the recent disaster and said that he has asked the Israeli officials to stop the military confrontation in Gaza," the statement said.

"Mr. Ihsanoglu, referring to the important statement of OIC concerning the condemnation of the Zionist regime, said that they were ready to hold a session of high ranking officials at the summits or ministers level," according to the statement.

Moussa said "Not just a session or speech (about the issue) but serious decisions are required to be made by Arab League," it added.

On Saturday, Iran's Foreign Ministry slammed the massive Israeli raids of Hamas targets in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Israel on Saturday morning launched massive air raids which it said were targeted at Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 300 and wounding over 900 people.

Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, is strongly supported by Iran. The Islamic Republic does not recognize Israel as a state of the international community.
