The Syrian People's Assembly (parliament) condemned Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip as "crimes" and called on all parliamentary organizations around the world to work with their governments to end such a "brutal aggression."
The parliament affirmed in a statement that it is continuing to work with Arab and international parliaments to end the "massacres" against the Palestinians by Israel, the official SANA news agency reported.
The statement also called on Arab and international organizations to pressure Israel into ending this aggression immediately, providing protection for the Palestinian people and lifting the siege imposed on them.
Speaker of the Assembly Mahmoud al-Abrash will head a delegation to participate in an emergency session of the Arab Parliamentary Federation, which will be held in the Lebanese city of Tyre on Thursday to discuss the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip was under intensive Israeli air strikes for the fifth successive day on Wednesday.
Since Saturday, massive air raids on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Striphave killed 380 Palestinians and injured 1,600 others, while four deaths and over a dozen injuries were registered on the Israeli side in rockets and mortar shells at southern Israel.
